Jess is a tattoo artist, illustrator, Daoist practitioner and student of Chinese Medicine who was born in the States into a Taiwanese/Japanese family. She has been living in Brooklyn since 2009, graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, and works at Saved Tattoo in Williamsburg. After her mother became ill, she studied Daoist Medicine, Martial Arts, and Philosophy with Temple Abott (Xing De) at Wudang Five Immortals Temple in Henan, China—which led her to pursue her Masters of Science in Acupuncture at the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In tandem with tattooing and medicine, she is also researching the power, efficacy and artistry around medicinal and shamanic indigenous tattoo practices around the world. She aims to continuously cultivate and nourish these seemingly separate worlds by bridging them into our modern world with modesty, love, and respect.
